ssh, or secure shell, is a program to log into another computer over a network and to execute commands in a remote machine.
it provides strong encryption and secure communications over unsecure channels. it is intended as a replacement for telnet, rlogin, rsh, and rcp.
we have provided programs to download here:
windows (putty)
download putty.exe and run it. enter shell.cybercom.net under host name.
* be sure to select 'SSH', not 'Telnet'.
you might want to give the session a name and save it, then you can just double-click it in the
list of saved sessions when you want to use it again.
mac (nifty telnet with ssh plugin)
or you can ssh to shell using mindterm, which is a java applet.
note: mindterm does not work on netscape prior to 4.06, or on netscape on the mac without the java plugin.
