Wallace D. "Wally" Peters
age 57, of 5488 Main St., Lee Center, New York, died Thursday, June 28, 2001 in Rome Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born February 24, 1944 in Rome, the son of Marian Peters Bielawski. Wally was a graduate of West Leyden High School, the class of 1962. On May 9, 1981, he married Linda Oram in Lee Center.
He was an employee at Revere Copper Products for over 30 years.
Wally was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam Conflict.
He was a very active member of the Lee Center United Methodist Church, and the Lee American Legion. Wally was also a member and officer of the Revere Athletic Association, and golfed in the Revere Men's Classic League.
Surviving besides his wife are his mother of Rome; one daughter, Sherri Peters, Rome; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Sgt. Dennis Peters, U.S. Army, San Antonio, Texas; Danny and Susan Peters, Fairfield, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Michelle Pickett, Lee Center; one stepson, Stephen Pickett, Rome; one sister and brother-in-law, Adeline and Royal Kraeger, Constableville; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Dottie Bielawski, Lee Center; seven grandchildren, Cassandra, Jessica, Jenny, Susan, Jonathan, Katelyn, Matthew, several nieces, nephews, his mother-in-law, Murl Oram, Lee Center, and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Mollie Oram, Taberg, and Ray and Sharon Oram, Rome.
He loved fishing, hunting, golfing, playing cards and watching the Discovery Channel. Wally will be remembered by all for his love of arguing. He was an extraordinary man who touched many lives.
Funeral services will be held from the Lee Center United Methodist Church Monday at 1:30 p.m. Interment Point Rock Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home Inc., Rome, on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Contributions may be made in his memory to the Lee Center United Methodist Church or to Welcome Hall.
