Nels Stanley KASPERSON
50, died September 23, 1996, of injuries suffered in an airplane accident in Alaska. A celebration of Nils Kasperson's life was held Saturday at the Regal Alaskan Hotel, Spenard Room, overlooking his beloved Lake Hood. During the gathering, Stearns Air Alaska and Jim Air flew the missing man formation. Nels Kasperson was born June 23, 1946, in Seattle. He graduated from the University of Puget Sound at Tacoma, and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He spent many summers flying to Alaska, finally moving there In the summer of 1993. Before moving to Alaska, Nels Kasperson flew for San Juan Airlines In Washington state. In Alaska, he flew for Jim Air and was chief pilot for Stearns Air Alaska He also flew on special assignment for the Federal Aviation Administration. His family said "Alaska was Nels' rebirth." He could love It all from his treasured cockpit. For those who loved him, his loss is as great as this land he so cherished. He will be dearly missed. Nels Kasperson is survived by his beloved wife, Paula, of Anchorage; Parents, Audrey and Stanley Kasperson, of Seattle; sister, Kristine Therlault, of Seattle; and two nieces, Michelle Therlault and Jamie Fine. Mr. Kasperson's family suggests any memorial contributions be sent to the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum, 4721 Aircraft Drive, Anchorage, 99502
