A military funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in 100F Cemetery for Sp. 5 Jon Michael Young of San Luis Obispo who was killed in action in Vietnam on April 4, He was 22.
The Young Soldier, a son of Mrs. Alma Young, was born May 8, 1945, in Santa Maria but attended San Luis Obispo junior and senior high schools, graduating in 1965. He entered the Army the same year and took his basic training at Fort Polk, LA.
He served at Mannheim, Germany, before going to Vietnam in January. He was a member of the San Luis Obispo Rifle Club. In addition to his mother, surviving is the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Linda Young of Cambridge, Mass. His father, Eldridge Clarke Young, died in 1947.
