IBIS Hotel in Abidjan
After over 15 hours in the Air and arriving at Abidjan International Airport, which is not much bigger than WOrcester Airport I disembarked and nervously went through customs. Thankfully my luggage arrived safely. After meeting a portor who had my name on a piece of paper I made my way out into a see of people all begging for things I could not even understand and there in the middle of it all was Kareen who came up and embraced me. Talk about releif!!! My biggest fear was that I would show up and there wouldn't be any one to meet me and then I would really be up a shit creek with no paddle. Our tour guide was also there and he escorted us to our vehical and made our way to our hotel. We arrived at the Hotel IBIS in Abidjan after driving through the City. We went out that night to dinner and checked out he Peace Corp Hostil and I got my first taste of city life in Cote d'Ivoire. The Taxi's are crazy and the people are always in your face. It was a lot like cities here, just everywhere is poor and there are no traffic laws that are enforced. This pictures in from the next morning out of our hotel window. Abidjan waking up.
