But first, before we go…
At the end of each season, a retrospective has been posted here as a celebration of yet another successful season, and to congratulate the players and coaches on their accomplishments.

At the end of the '02-'03 season, however, I was a bit behind, and never got around to it. Not to ignore the accomplishments of that season, here is the '02-'03 retrospective ('03-'04 retrospective to follow.)

First of all, it was a year of transitions, as two long-time Board members retired:

Former and future Board member Christine Nilan... Picture not available

Presented by PYH President Paul McLaughlin, the plaque reads:
In appreciation to Christine Nilan for 8 years (1995-2003) of dedicated service to Parkway Youth Hockey as a member of the Board of Directors, as the Secretary, and Vice-President, Program Registrar and Director of Administration.

Sincerely,
Board of Directors
Parkway Youth Hockey

After a year of rest and relaxation, Christine Nilan returned to the Board, and is entering the second year of a two-year term.

The camera-shy Paul Roche was photographed here in a blizzard while fighting off a polar bear attack.

Presented by PYH President Paul McLaughlin, the plaque reads:
In appreciation to Paul Roche for 4 years (1999-2003) of dedicated service to Parkway Youth Hockey as a member of the Board of Directors, as the Vice-President and Director of Hockey Operations.

Sincerely,
Board of Directors
Parkway Youth Hockey
McLaughlin, Babineau, McDonough...

The '02-'03 season also saw the biennial Canadian Goodwill Exchange trip to Montreal, where Parkway players take their game international! This was also the debut of the Parkway Lady Hawks playing their Canadian counterparts. Pictured here are Parkway President Paul McLaughlin with Board Member and Canada Trip Coordinator Walter McDonough, presenting Hockey West Island President Jean-Guy Babineau, center, with the commemorative t-shirt for the occasion.

And now, a review of the '02-'03 season's accomplishments:

- Midget III inaugural season was played in the GBYHL
- Bantam I were District One State Tournament Finalists
- Bantam III played an undefeated regular season, and were District One State Tournament Finalists
- PeeWee I were Mayor's Cup Silver Medalists
- PeeWee II were Mayor's Cup Gold Medalists
- PeeWee III were Mayor's Cup Gold Medalists and GBYHL PeeWee East Division Champions
- Squirt I were Mayor's Cup Bronze Medalists and District One State Tournament Finalists
- Squirt II were Mayor's Cup Bronze Medalists and District One State Tournament Champions
- Squirt III were District One State Tournament Finalists
- Girls 15 & under played to a completely undefeated season for the second year in a row, and won the District 9 Girls Championship, in the final year of its existence
- Girls 12 & under were District 9 Girls Finalists
- Mite I were Mayor's Cup Bronze Medalists
- and, finally, a team from the Mite House were Mayor's Cup Silver Medalists

Now, in order to do the '03-'04 retrospective, which should have been done last year (first things first, though), I need to hear from PeeWee II about how they did in the PeeWee Tier III State Tournament, PeeWee III about what medal they got in the Mayor's Cup (Gold? Silver? Bronze?), Squirt I about what medal they got in the Mayor's Cup (Gold? Silver? Bronze?), Squirt III about what medal they got in the Mayor's Cup (Gold? Silver? Bronze?), and Mite II about what medal they got in the Mayor's Cup (Gold? Silver? Bronze?)

Thank You!
And good-bye!
It has been extremely rewarding and fun to host the Parkway Youth Hockey website from its inception in 1999 through the 2003-2004 season. The website has moved to a more permanent location, which will take it to the next level. If this page doesn't forward you to the new home of Parkway Youth Hockey within two minutes, you can click through here. This site will be here for historical reference for awhile, so before it forwards through, you can click through to other pages on this website.
